Tenor Daniel McGrew has been celebrated for “a pure, straightforward use of an instrument that aspires to emulate no other singer” (San Francisco Classical Voice). McGrew is an internationally active performer of a broad range of repertoires spanning opera, early music, contemporary music, and music theater. Recent appearances include residencies at the Marlboro and YellowBarn music festivals, solo recitals at New York’s Lincoln Center, and Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center, and concert programs with the Mirror Visions Ensemble, New York Festival of Song, Brooklyn Art Song Society, Elm City Consort, Gamut Bach Ensemble, the Leipzig Mendelssohn-Orchesterakademie and Gewanhausorchester, and more.
McGrew is also a committed and passionate pedagogue with experience teaching diverse learners with a wide range of musical goals and interests. He believes that the experience of musical study can enrich an individual’s life in ways that reach well beyond their music-making. McGrew holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, Yale University, and the University of Michigan where he earned his Doctorate. |
