Violin Lessons


At Long Ridge Music, we offer violin lessons for every level. The interaction of student and teacher is critical to mastering a musical instrument, and so each student is carefully matched with a teacher. Weekly lessons can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length.



Meet Our Violin Teachers


Jacqueline Jove (Violin) leads a versatile musical life as a performer and music educator. She graduated with honors from Yale University as a student of Wendy Sharp and studied at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris as a student of Marie-Christine Millière. She is currently completing graduate studies with Laurie Smukler at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase.

An avid chamber and orchestral musician, Ms. Jove has attended various summer festivals including the National Orchestral Institute, California Summer Music, Tanglewood and Interlochen and has served as a fellow at the Opéra Bastille (Paris) and the Dutch Orchestra and Ensemble Academy. She has performed in master classes for members of the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago, Pittsburg, Boston, and National Symphonies and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others.

Ms. Jove has extensive experience teaching violinists of all ages and abilities. She believes that music should be accessible to all and has served as a teacher and mentor for programs such as Instrumental Connection and "Right Trak." A contributor to classical music radio, Jacqueline has worked for National Public Radio, Radio France, and WYBC-New Haven.


Chie Yoshinaka (Violin) Chie Yoshinaka started her violin studies at the age of five in Japan. A winner of Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition, she has given chamber music and solo performances throughout the United States and Japan. Ms.Yoshinaka recently performed with Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra as a regular member, International Chamber Artists, Logan Square Chamber Players and Millennium Chamber Players in Chicago, Abilene Opera Association and Abilene Philharmonic in Texas. During the summer of 2009, she toured Japan with New York Asian Symphony Orchestra. Also in January 2009, she gave a solo recital in her native Yokohama, Japan. Until she joined Civic Orchestra in 2007, Ms.Yoshinaka had long been based in New York area. She was under management with Asian Artists and Concerts and performed at the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre and United Nation, among other venues in New York area. Also a dedicated teacher, Ms.Yoshinaka is on the faculty at Camp Encore/Coda in Maine since 2006 and is the current string department head. She has coached Chicago Youth Symphony and Northwest Indiana Youth Symphony. Ms.Yoshinaka has attended numerous music festivals including Aspen Music Festival and the Brevard Music Centre. She is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music (B.M.) and New York University (M.A.) where she received the Graduate Education Scholarship and Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education) membership. Her major teachers include Naoko Tanaka, Neil Weintrob and Peter Winograd.
