Benjamin Steinhardt (Piano) is also an accompanist, vocal coach, conductor and pedagogue who can be heard regularly in venues throughout New York City. Mr. Steinhardt works with students of all ages and abilities, striving to create a fun, positive learning environment carefully structured for the individual learning styles and needs of each student. Strong emphasis is placed upon the development of self-esteem, healthy body movements, and advanced learning skills. As a pianist he has performed in the United States and Europe and has been heard at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall. A strong proponent of new music he has premiered new works by Dag Gabrielsen, Marc Chan, Zachary Abramson, and Anthony Rosado. He can be heard on an upcoming recording of Marc Chan’s My Wounded Head to be released next year. As a accompanist and conductor Mr. Steinhardt has worked with the Connecticut Light Opera Company, New York and Fairfield Universities, among others. Mr. Steinhardt studied at Manhattan School of Music, The Boston Conservatory, and Mannes College. His teachers have included Janice Weber, Sara Crawford Drogheo and Donn-Alexandre Feder. He currently studies with Teresa Dybvig, a leading proponent of the teachings of Dorothy Taubman. He has participated in Master Classes with Richard Goode, Peter Frankl, Amy Dissanayake, Jonathon Biss, and the Raphael Piano Trio. Mr. Steinhardt is on the faculty of the Douglaston School of Music, and City Music Schools/Joria Productions. Locally he has worked with the Center Stage and Pocket Players children’s theater companies and in the Westport Public school system.

Dennis Collins (Voice) is a singer/performer who works in the music and entertainment industry as a much sought after ‘voice for hire’ and consummate professional. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he attended the prestigious public college preparatory Cass Technical High School and Oakland University, where he majored in Music Education and Voice.

As an educator, he developed and implemented a music program for grades K–8 at a small independent school for children with learning differences. The program included the basic fundamentals of music, introduction to the orchestra, chorus, sight-singing, and beginning piano. He has done workshops at West Hill High School and Cloonan Middle School in Stamford. He has also created Precision Performance Education & Enrichment, a program designed to teach students life skills, discipline and self-esteem through the arts.

He has extensive experience as a singer, arranger, vocal coach and producer, and performs a wide range of musical genres, including classical, pop and jazz. He has recorded and performed with numerous acclaimed artists, orchestras and has toured internationally.

Dennis Collins believes that music is essential to the human spirit in bringing balance to one’s life, as a player or a listener. A good teacher of music must meet students where they are, and enjoy developing their talent, as well as stimulating their artistic growth.

Chie Yoshinaka (Violin) Chie Yoshinaka started her violin studies at the age of five in Japan. A winner of Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition, she has given chamber music and solo performances throughout the United States and Japan. Ms.Yoshinaka recently performed with Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra as a regular member, International Chamber Artists, Logan Square Chamber Players and Millennium Chamber Players in Chicago, Abilene Opera Association and Abilene Philharmonic in Texas. During the summer of 2009, she toured Japan with New York Asian Symphony Orchestra. Also in January 2009, she gave a solo recital in her native Yokohama, Japan. Until she joined Civic Orchestra in 2007, Ms.Yoshinaka had long been based in New York area. She was under management with Asian Artists and Concerts and performed at the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre and United Nation, among other venues in New York area. Also a dedicated teacher, Ms.Yoshinaka is on the faculty at Camp Encore/Coda in Maine since 2006 and is the current string department head. She has coached Chicago Youth Symphony and Northwest Indiana Youth Symphony. Ms.Yoshinaka has attended numerous music festivals including Aspen Music Festival and the Brevard Music Centre. She is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music (B.M.) and New York University (M.A.) where she received the Graduate Education Scholarship and Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education) membership. Her major teachers include Naoko Tanaka, Neil Weintrob and Peter Winograd.

Dave Hart (Guitar) has been working in the commercial and film world as a composer, arranger and studio guitarist for over 20 years. He has won several awards for his commercial work including Addy’s and New York Festivals and has composed and produced music for national ads including American Express, Miller Beer, Maxwell House, Delta Airlines and many more. He has scored many television documentaries and has worked with numerous studio legends including Mark Egan, Danny Gottlieb, Randy Brecker and Shawn Pelton.

Dave began to study guitar when he was 9, and started his musical career at the age of 10 as a soloist in professional choirs, highlighted by his acceptance to the New York City Opera Children’s Choir. Dave attended Syracuse University as a jazz and classical guitar major, studying there with Carlo Manobianco. He completed his undergraduate degree at New York University (BM 1987) where he studied with jazz guitar great Alan Hanlon. Dave has also studied with Jeff Bonenberger of the Bonenberger Duo who had been a student of Andre Segovia and Benjamin Verdery.

Dave began teaching while still in high school at the Music and Arts Center for Humanity in Bridgeport, CT., and over the last several years has been teaching privately from his studio. His work as a session guitarist has helped Dave to develop the ability to play in many styles, and he believes in teaching the core skills that will enable his students to pursue all facets of the guitar. Also, recognizing that different students learn in different ways, Dave tailors his lessons to optimize each student’s progress and enjoyment of playing guitar.

Lu Ye (Piano) Born in Shanghai in 1977, pianist Lu Ye began her piano studies at age six with Professor Chen Qingfeng and Professor Lin Hua. Lu was accepted as an exceptional student for the Art Academy of Antwerp to study piano with Freddy Vander Keolen when she was fourteen, in which year she won the first prize with highest distinction in the Young Talent Competition in Belgium. She obtained her Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Specialization in Piano and Chamber Music degrees with highest distinctions from the Royal Conservatory of Belgium, studying under Professor Jozef De Beenhouwer.

Lu's techniques and musicality have led to performances and concerts at concert halls such as Palais des Beaux Arts, de Singel, Queen Elisabeth Hall, Carnegie Hall, as well as tour throughout Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Hungary and China. Her performances have been broadcast live on Belgian Radio and Television and recorded by Bavarian Radio. Lu has performed in master classes for such renowned artists and pedagogues as Boris Berman, Murray Perahia, Jan Wijn, Halkon Åustbø, Erwin Schiffer, Dan Epstein and György Kurtág. She has also collaborated with many top artists such as violinist Guido de Neve, violist Mate Szüsc and singer Lien Haegeman in chamber music performances.

Lu also holds a Music Pedagogy degree from the Royal Concervatory of Belgium. She has over 10 years of teaching experience in music academies and private studios.

Jacqueline Jove (Violin) leads a versatile musical life as a performer and music educator. She graduated with honors from Yale University as a student of Wendy Sharp and studied at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris as a student of Marie-Christine Millière. She is currently completing graduate studies with Laurie Smukler at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase.

An avid chamber and orchestral musician, Ms. Jove has attended various summer festivals including the National Orchestral Institute, California Summer Music, Tanglewood and Interlochen and has served as a fellow at the Opéra Bastille (Paris) and the Dutch Orchestra and Ensemble Academy. She has performed in master classes for members of the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago, Pittsburg, Boston, and National Symphonies and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others.

Ms. Jove has extensive experience teaching violinists of all ages and abilities. She believes that music should be accessible to all and has served as a teacher and mentor for programs such as Instrumental Connection and "Right Trak." A contributor to classical music radio, Jacqueline has worked for National Public Radio, Radio France, and WYBC-New Haven.

Andrew Kuusisto (Bass & Guitar) After attending Berklee College of Music, where he studied music production and composition, Andrew embarked on a successful teaching and performing career. Playing in various bands and venues around Boston, Mass, eventually enabled him to earn a spot in a group called No December. They recorded 4 CD’s, and maintained a rigorous performance schedule throughout the Northeast, PA, and California. Andrew (with No December) shared the bill/opened for such rock luminaries as Tommy Lee, Filter, Sevendust, and Seether. Since 2005, based on his extensive studio experience, artists called upon him for music production, most notably Inspiration States. In addition to recording for other producers and being an on call/ for hire musician, he is now prepping to record his first CD as a leader. Due to be released in Fall ’10, it will contain original compositions performed with a full band.

Throughout the band's career, Andrew continued his teaching, with guitar/bass lessons and band coaching/ instruction. Having taught students from 4-50+, he views music education as a cornerstone in a person’s life, knowing that music can enrich experience in immeasurable ways. Andrew feels lucky and blessed that he gets to make a living spending time on his passion, honorably sharing information with students that want to expand their creativity and repertoire.

Sarah Newman (Piano and Saxaphone) received her bachelor of music education degree from Oberlin Conservatory and her master of music degree from Manhattan School of Music. Her primary instrument is saxophone; in addition Sarah also sings and plays piano, guitar and most wind instruments.

In 2005, Sarah was selected to be part of Oberlin’s China Tour Orchestra, which completed a five-city tour of China in two weeks. Sarah is an active player of new music and especially enjoys working with composers. In 2007, she was the saxophone soloist in the U.S. premiere of Olga Neuwirth’s opera "Lost Highway," playing sold-out performances in both Oberlin and New York City.

Sarah’s saxophone quartet recently performed an hour-long program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Last summer, Sarah was the instrumental instructor at Camp Belvoir Terrace, a fine arts camp for young women. There, she taught trumpet, trombone, drums, clarinet, recorder and guitar. In addition to her classical studies, Sarah is a singer-songwriter who has performed in venues in upstate New York and New York City.

Rachel Cohen (Piano and Voice) has a B.A. in Music from Manhattanville College and is currently a graduate student at Columbia University. She began her piano studies with her father at age seven and began studying with Linda Herring at age nine. She continued through high school with Marilyn Sophos in her hometown of Dobbs Ferry, NY. At Manhattanville she studied with Francis Brancaleone. In her senior year, she won the music department’s concerto competition with Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor and was the recipient of the David Fromkin Award, giving her the opportunity to perform with the Manhattanville Community Orchestra. She also participated in Chamber Ensembles and gave various performances in the department. She has worked professionally as an accompanist, most notably for Jenna’s Dream Choir in Yorktown Heights, NY. Performances included the Westchester Choral Festival and Broadway Sings for Jenna’s Dream. She currently studies with Michael Skelly at Columbia and is in a two-piano ensemble coached by Yelena Grinberg.

Rachel has studied vocally in both the classical and popular styles. She studied opera with JennyRebecca Walker and musical theater/pop with Rosemary Loar. She has a substantial musical theater background and participated in a Professional Summer Intensive at NYU’s CAP21 Studio in 2007. At Manhattanville, she sang with the Choir and the Selective Women’s Chamber Choir, and also participated in the theater department’s Cabaret workshop and performances.

In her teaching, Rachel provides a positive and encouraging atmosphere. She focuses on each student’s individual needs. Her primary goal for all students is cultivating a love of music and helping students grow in technique and musicality. Rachel has taught all levels and age groups and welcomes beginners, advanced players/singers, and everything in between.

Ray Bryant (Bass & Guitar) Studied with Rich Rabatin of Stony Brook School of Music for 7 years and had his first performance at Harrington’s Jazz Club in NY at age 15. He then studied under the tutelage of his musical mentor, Mike Frost, a student of the late Jaco Pastorious. The next few years were spent developing his own unique style of playing music and learning about "Music" and how to listen. Ray later went on to perform for Bugsy Malone’s sessions for Ziggy Marley, and performed guitar with Bakithi Kumalo, who was the bassist for Paul Simon’s Graceland album and tour. He performed with Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and with folk duo Loam. He has performed numerous children’s concerts while not touring and went on to compose music that has been in two independent snow and skate films, "Echo’s from the Valley" and "Momentous Occasion’s". He is currently being certified as a music teacher at University of Bridgeport; is working in the NY, NJ and Connecticut area as a soloist; released 3 albums to date and recently performed at Fairfield Theater, "Live at 5" with rock band "Kite".

Inbal Megiddo (Cello) Israeli cellist Inbal Megiddo has given many concerts in Europe, Asia and America. Maestro Zubin Mehta describes her as an extremely talented, very musical musician. At her New York debut at the Lincoln Center her playing was hailed by the press as having magical expression and technical expertise. Recent performances include a recital in the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Hall in New York, her Berlin debut with the Berlin Symphony at the Philharmonie and a recital at the Staatsoper, performances with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, and the Lithuanian Philharmonic Society, recitals in New York and Chicago, and a premier of a work by composer Ofer Ben Amotz in Denver, CO. She has had performances and radio broadcasts with the Jerusalem Symphony under the direction of Sergio Comissiona, live recital broadcasts in several countries including Israel, Germany, Spain, Ireland, the USA (Chicago - the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series - and New York's Bob Sherman Show on WQXR) and the Mishkenot Sha'ananim Music Center in Jerusalem. Ms Megiddo has made a recording of Israeli composer Hanna Levy's works. She has performed and toured extensively with her regular recital partner, pianist Saleem Abboud Ashkar. She has also regularly recorded and performed with the Grammy Award nominated group, The Yale Cellos.

Also in high demand as a teacher, Inbal has taught at Yale University, given master classes at institutions including the Royal Conservatory in Dublin, the La Salle School for the Arts in Singapore, the University of North Texas, and at festivals such as the Israel Cello Festival, International Dublin Master Classes. In addition, she has maintained a private studio, and works with the Stamford Young Artists organization.

Inbal Megiddo began her cello studies at the age of two, and gave her first performances a year later. She completed her Artist's Diploma at Yale University, where she also earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees under the guidance of Professor Aldo Parisot. She participated in master classes with such artists as Janos Starker and Michel Strauss and performed privately and received guidance from Mstislav Rostropovich. Ms Megiddo has participated in festivals in Banff and in Rolandseck (Bonn) as a soloist, as a member of chamber music ensembles, and as a performer in the master classes of Pinchas Zukerman and Yuri Bashmet, and at the West-East Divan Workshop with Daniel Barenboim. Ms Megiddo has received many awards and prizes, and has been a recipient of the America Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship, under the patronage of Isaac Stern, since the age of six. Ms Megiddo currently plays a Fiorini cello. She has been selected by the Stradivari Society as a rising star and is being assisted by them in a search for an instrument of the highest quality.

Evan Honse (Trumpet) Evan Honse began playing the trumpet at age 10 in Mill Valley, California. In 2008 he completed his Bachelor's degree in Music at The University of Colorado at Boulder, on a full tuition scholarship. While in Boulder, Evan performed with The Colorado University Orchestra, Opera, Wind Ensemble and Downbeat award winning Jazz Ensemble I, as well as the San Juan Symphony and Colorado Light Opera. In the summers of 2008 and 2009 Evan performed on Full Fellowship with the Colorado College Summer Music Festival. In the Summer of 2010 he performed on full Fellowship with the Lake Tahoe Summer Music Festival, and with the Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar. In 2010, Evan was a finalist for a position with the New World Symphony.

In 2010 Honse completed his Masters degree in Orchestral Performance at Manhattan School of Music, studying with Mark Gould. Since moving to New York City, Honse has performed with the Manhattan School of Music Chamber Symphony at Carnegie Hall, and has played under the batons of Sidney Hearth, Marvin Hamlisch, and Kurt Masur. In the Contemporary setting, Evan has performed with the New York Contemporary Ensemble and has performed Elliot Carter's Asko Concerto, and Edgard Varese's Octandre with the Claremont Ensemble.

Evan actively freelances in New York City, performing in Classical, jazz, and rock settings.

Evan adapts his teaching to the goals, ability level, and musical tastes of each student while encouraging self-expression and commitment to musicality and technical proficiency. He helps each student balance his/her musical instruction with the many other activities in which they are involved. Evan plays frequently in lessons to demonstrate tone, technique, and musicality.

When not playing trumpet, Evan enjoys arranging and composing, and watching Arrested Development.

Jason Pharr (Drums) Born in Jackson, MS, Jason Pharr comes from a musical family and started playing drums at the age of 8. He began performing in junior high school playing in clubs, all-state orchestras, and churches. He played with the award winning show choir Attache', The Young Americans Theater group from Los Angeles, CA for 2 summers and traveled to Australia with the Lyons All State Marching Band.

During this productive time early in his life, Jason also experienced something tragic for an aspiring drummer, a stroke at the age of 16 and lost control of his left hand. However, he decided to work harder than ever, practiced constantly, and regained the use of his hand. He was able to earn a scholarship to the very prestigious University Of North Texas, for a drummer, one of the top Universities in the country. While earning a degree at UNT, Jason was fortunate enough to study with Ed Soph (Woody Herman), Paul Rennick (Creator of Blast the Broadway musical), among others.

Since moving to Brooklyn in 1998, Jason has been active in the New York City area performing everywhere from clubs and concert halls to off Broadway and private events. He has done multiple US and International tours with his band and others. His TV appearances include being a featured guest on MTV's Subterranean, Carson Daly, Extra, BET, FUSE, and Fearless TV. Jason is a member of The Cloud Room, a Brooklyn based group that has had music in movies, TV, and commercials. Currently, their song is running in a Pringles ad here in the US and internationally. As a diverse working musician, Jason has played thousands of "gigs" all over the world.

Jason recently moved to Stamford with his wife and son and is excited about teaching at LRMC. Jason considers teaching a privilege and enjoys having the opportunity to share his knowledge of music. He believes in teaching to the individual and that learning should be fun and challenging.

Jeb Dennis (Pianist) Pianist and organist Jeb Dennis began piano study at seven, and by age nine was playing organ solos for church services. At 11, he enrolled at the Silvermine School of Music in Norwalk, CT , studying with founder Juliet Shaw and her daughter Sandra Shaw-Murphy. Jeb started university-level study at age 15 with Karen Shaw, Professor of Piano at Indiana University-Jacob School of Music (also a daughter of Juliet Shaw). He received a Bachelor in Piano Performance from Indiana University, guided by Dr. Shaw, and continued post-collegiate study with her.

Mr. Dennis has studied with German Diez in New York , protege of pianist Claudio Arrau. He has performed for composer, conductor, multi-keyboardist Anthony Newman and in masterclasses of master-pianists Leslie Howard, David Dubal, Sarah Davis Buechner, Jeffrey Swan, and Leonard Hokanson.

Since 1998 he has studied organ performance with pianist/organist Randall Atcheson and is currently Atcheson's associate music director and organist at Stanwich Congregational Church in Greenwich CT. In June 2006 he attended Yale School of Music's Church Music Clinic, led by Yale organ professor Martin Jean.

In May 2010, he received his Masters of Music in Piano from State University of New York, Purchase, as a student of pianist Stephanie Brown.

Mr. Dennis is in demand as an organist, notably substituting for organists Anthony Newman and Mary-Jane Newman several times. Jeb has received organ coachings from Anthony Newman as well as insight in interpreting the composer's solo piano music. He has a large and varied repertoire and regularly collaborates with classical and non-classical artists.

Mike Miller (Guitar) grew up in the suburbs of Chicago where he started playing guitar at age five. He went on to study classical guitar and music education at Sinclair College in Ohio. In the early ‘90’s, Mike relocated to Los Angeles where he was involved with several bands, music video projects and studio work. While in LA, Mike studied guitar with Scott Van Zen (composer for the band Kiss), and bass with Bunny Brunel (of Chick Corea). He later moved to Phoenix, AZ where he was invited to be a guest soloist on classical guitar for the San Marcos Symphony. He went on to perform as a solo guitarist in the styles of classical, jazz, and modern, while also performing on guitar and bass with local rock bands in Arizona. Mike’s bands have headlined venues such as, Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den, The Whiskey in Los Angeles, The Marquee and Celebrity theaters in Phoenix and The Orpheum in Flagstaff along with similar venues across the US. During this time, Mike continued his bass studies with Emmy award winning bassist and composer, Mahlon Hawk. Mike also recorded a solo guitar CD entitled Instrumental Solitude.

Mike specializes in electric and acoustic guitar along with electric bass. As an educator, Mike has over 20 years of teaching experience in both guitar and bass. Mike’s teaching philosophy is that all students have their own style and pace in learning and he designs his lessons to meet the needs of each individual student.

Jillian Corey (Violin) received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Syracuse University in 2010 and will begin work on her Masters Degree at Columbia University's Teachers College in the fall of 2011. Jillian's primary instrument is violin; additionally, she teaches viola, cello and piano.

Jillian is the Strings Director at The Old Greenwich School and North Mianus School in Greenwich, CT, where she gives small group lessons and rehearses ensembles. In 2009, Jillian designed, and implemented a summer string course at Van Duyn Elementary school in Syracuse, New York, teaching children in first and second grade to play the violin. She also interned with the Syracuse Children's Choir, and New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

Jillian has studied performance at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg, France under the direction of Philipe Descamps. She has also studied with Artemis Simerson, Jeremy Mastrangelo, James Krehbiel, Peter Rovit, Li Li and Caroline Stinson. Jillian has performed in venues such as Yale University's Woolsey Hall, and Carnegie Hall and is currently performing with the Yonkers Philharmonic.
